Starlight

You are like starlight,
bright in a sea
of black.
I can see you,
feel radiance
from your design,
but when I reach,
your brilliance recedes,
shimmers
and folds
into darkness.
You are the night,
so elegantly shadowed,
so divinely charred,
a shining streak
of mystic
across the sky.
Your eyes,
deep orbs into the unknown,
black holes of longing.
You love
but can’t see it
underneath the dim
of your belief
in your identity,
the darkness of who
you think you are.
But I see your starlight
glimmering in the distance.
I can feel you
begin to thaw.
