Drops of Water

The rain heaves
its weight upon
the earth
designing puddles
from the waiting ground.
Fresh and
cold and
dark clouds hover–
the land devours the wet,
drinking it like
an ethereal elixir
bound to create
desire for more.
Rain pours and
falls and
cascades around me,
strings of my hair
caught in my eyelashes
and liquid drops
rolling down my nose,
plummeting to the needy ground.
The rain is your voice
echoing in the air.

  1. This part really stands out for me: “the land devours the wet, / drinking it like / an ethereal elixir / bound to create / desire for more.” A really really nice post.
