Ceilings drip
with glitter,
bright flashes of gold
glinting in the light
emanating from the chandelier.
Fizzy drinks
in hands sheathed
in diamonds,
Opulence hangs
in the rich air,
covering the dancers
in an expensive sheen.
We are supposed
to desire this beauty,
this unnecessity,
this wealth.
I desire happiness.
Your rough,
working fingers
mixing with
my ink stained ones.
I crave your thoughts
and your words,
your experiences
whether joy or pain.
You are my opulence,
my necessity.
Your voice is my riches.
