Moonbeams

The orange-slice moon
hangs by silvery heart-strands
hooked to the sky.
Eerie luminesence
casts glowing beams
on the dark country road
to nowhere.
When the moon is full
and pregnant with change,
she will follow its light
down the blacktop path
and away from the familiar,
her bare feet
pounding against the past
and kicking up the future
in clouds of dust.
