Swing. Jump. Land.

Swing.
Push me higher.
I want to float
on wings
made from gossamer
and webs.
Pretend like this
isn’t a disaster,
that birds have feathers
made for walking
instead of heights.
Jump.
Fall with me
into the never-never
where we can sail
on cloud-bound ships
and reminisce
on ancient stars
who fought battles
for the sky.
Land.
Glide with me
towards the earth,
her soft petals
stretching out their fingers.
We find homes
in gullys and riverbeds,
places where elves dwell
in the transient light
between here and forever.
We will leap together
into the darkness
and we will bask
in together
on the other side.
