Writing You

I’ve been writing you
into existence.
My pen curves
around the words
that define your lips
and scent
and magic.
I’m writing you into
who I think you are
because my hands
have only ever known
your absence.
This life lived on paper
is the only one I know
so how is it
that I mourn the missing parts
I’ve never met?
