Perspective

It’s funny what we see,
what we don’t.
You see weakness
and doubt
when I see strength
and confidence,
an unshakable resolve
that you carry
like a torch
burning from
inside your chest.
It lights this tattered path
and ignites the pitch darkness
of this place I live
without you.
And then there’s you.
A bundle of what if
and what was,
a tumble of wonderings
about what we might think
about the you
that is true,
the you that is weak
and doubtful,
and all at once
courageous
and special
and strong.
