Paint peels from the walls
like the lies from your tongue,
but the truth can’t hide for long.

With muffled screams and broken fingernails, she stares out
the dirty window leaving bloody prints on the sill,
clues for a savior who will never come

In the end,
her life shoved into
a paper envelope
in the back
of a rusted locker,
no clues left
to help her escape.

Ok, first I must say how excited I am that Three Line Thursday is back. Maybe it will inspire me to respond to more prompts here and on Twitter. My submission for the challenge is actually only the italicized part. I was excited and didn’t know which of these to pick when I realized they kind of go together. Hope you enjoy! 🙂
