Want Versus Have

I want your hands
on every part,
on every space
that makes me.
I need your rough fingers
digging into my back,
grabbing my chin,
pulling me in for the kiss
that will end me.
I need abandon,
reckless passion
where we aren’t sure
which of us is which.
I want twisted sheets
and twined legs,
hot breath
and hotter sex.

I need this.

But I’d never actually
go through with it.

I’d never let you touch me.
I am tainted
and used up
and insignificant
in my mundanity.
You want clean skin
and liquid body,
and I am such the opposite.
I shudder as I think
of your hands
actually touching me,
your eyes seeing
what I never show.
It’s ineffable
in its absurdity.

As much as I want you,
as much as I love you,
you would never choose
the fragments I’ve become.

Another day, another poem. I’m in a weird space. I do apologize.
