Writing

You imagine
what he’ll say,
what he’ll do.

You see the words
floating past his lips,
hear his voice
echoing lines that you wrote,
the ones your own mind created,

and it’s then you realize
that it’s all just your own story,
the one you’re writing

in your head,

the one you hope
will start to come true,
but it never does.

It was never meant to be real.
